What we do

Cave-Men Siding Contractors is based in Stratford, Ontario. We do siding, eavestrough, soffit and fascia — the whole exterior envelope from the roof edge down — across Perth County and out into Huron, Oxford, Waterloo and Middlesex.

That grouping is not an accident. Siding, trough, soffit, fascia and capping all terminate along the same line at the top of your wall. Buy them from four different contractors and you get four ideas of what white means, four schedules, and nobody accountable for the junction where they meet.

The bit that matters in Ontario

Everything we hang on a house here goes through roughly a hundred freeze-thaw cycles a year and an eighty-degree temperature swing between February and August. Almost every early failure we get called to fix traces back to that.

Vinyl nailed tight instead of hung loose, so it cannot move and splits at the fasteners. House wrap lapped the wrong way so water runs in rather than out. Soffit blocked or unvented, so the attic cannot breathe and the roof deck stays warm enough to make ice dams. Aluminum capping over a fascia board that was already rotten. None of those are visible on handover day. All of them are visible by year three.

We look behind it

On any tear-off we open a section before finalising a quote. If the wrap has failed or there is rot in the sheathing, new siding over the top is money spent hiding a problem rather than fixing one. You will hear what is actually there, with photographs, and then decide.

Where we work

Stratford and Perth County first — St. Marys, Mitchell, Listowel, Shakespeare, Tavistock, Sebringville, Milverton. Then New Hamburg and Wilmot, Kitchener-Waterloo, Woodstock and Oxford, Goderich and the Huron shore, and London. Three genuinely different exposures across that range, and the spec should reflect which one you are in.

The photographs

Everything in our gallery is our work. Stone-and-timber new construction, board and batten in dark green and charcoal, craftsman bungalows, mixed elevations, and a re-side with the staging still up. The range is the business, and it is easier to show than to claim.
